OUR MISSIONARIES
PATRICK & EMILY MEIR
YWAM JAPAN
Patrick and Emily have been serving in missions throughout Asia for over 17 years and 13 years, respectively. Patrick began his missionary journey with Victory Churches International, serving in Cambodia for seven years in anti-trafficking ministry, discipleship, and church planting. He later moved to Taiwan, where he and Emily served with YWAM, focusing on evangelism and discipleship through a variety of community outreach ministries, including English classes, coffee shop ministry, children’s camps, Bible storytelling in schools, and ministry to the elderly. They also served local churches and helped facilitate missions training programs for both missionaries and congregations.
At the beginning of 2026, Patrick and Emily stepped out in faith and relocated to Kochi City, Japan, to join a pioneering YWAM team. Although Japan is a developed nation, it remains the second-largest unreached and unengaged people group in the world, with less than 0.3% of Kochi’s population identifying as Christian. Many churches have fewer than ten attendees, and most pastors are over the age of seventy. Current statistics indicate that within five years, nearly half of Japan’s existing churches may close due to a shortage of emerging leaders. In response to this need, Patrick and Emily are partnering with YWAM Japan and local churches to strengthen and grow congregations through evangelism, discipleship, and leadership development, helping raise up the next generation of church leaders and advance God’s Kingdom throughout Kochi and beyond.
