OUR STORY

IT STARTED WITH ABOUT 30 PEOPLE - AND A FLOOD.

In 2013, a small group at Eastside began to feel a growing passion for outreach. Then the river rose. Alongside Samaritan’s Purse, they pulled on their boots and served the hardest-hit neighbourhoods of downtown Calgary and High River.

From that one act of love, a ripple began. Today CityCare volunteers serve warm meals, visit seniors, bring hope behind prison walls, cook for families at Ronald McDonald House and welcome every neighbour home.

  • MEALS MINISTRY


    Hot meals, shared tables, and neighbours who never eat alone.

    Every month our teams roll up their sleeves at two Victory Outreach churches to serve a warm lunch to neighbours in need. Work in the kitchen preparing food or doing dishes, serve, pour coffee, offer prayer — or simply sit and chat with someone who could use a friendly face.

  • MEN'S PRISON MINISTRY


    Walking with men behind the walls — and beside them when they come home.

    Some of the most overlooked people in our city are the ones inside prison walls. Our team brings Bible study, friendship and the good news of Jesus to men at the Calgary Correctional Centre — and walks with them when they come home.

  • WOMEN'S PRISON MINISTRY


    Hope, dignity, and steady friendship for women in custody.

    Our women’s team serves at the women’s remand centre, bringing Bible study, encouragement and the good news of Jesus to women who are too often forgotten. Steady friendship, week after week, says: you matter.

  • YOUTH PRISON MINISTRY


    Showing up for young people the world has written off.

    Our youth team serves at the youth remand centre, bringing mentoring, encouragement and the good news of Jesus to young people at a turning point. Consistent, caring adults who keep showing up can change the story a young person believes about themselves.

  • RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE


    Home-cooked comfort for families keeping bedside vigil.

    When a child is in hospital, families stay close at Ronald McDonald House. ROVC volunteers cook and serve a warm dinner so parents and siblings can come “home” at the end of a long day to a hot meal and a friendly face.

  • SENIORS HOME


    Visits, worship, and good company for our elders.

    Each month our team leads worship services at seniors’ homes in Rocky Ridge and Evanston, sharing a message of hope, singing old favourites and spending time with residents who treasure the company.

    Gatherings where the whole city is welcome.

    From Christmas celebrations to community gatherings, ROVC events open our doors to the whole city. Every event runs on volunteers — greeters, set-up crews, hospitality teams and more.

No experience needed and nothing to bring. Everything is provided; just bring a willing heart.

Serving on Sunday? Join us for a service at ROVC beforehand - we worship together first, then head out to serve
